Flowers make the prettiest and the most popular pictures, but both of our gardens feature many plants, herbs, bushes, trees and ornamental grasses. Some of them are the focus of this photo set.
I choose many perennials for the plants themselves, because let’s face it, their bloom only last a month or two. Some perennials like Hostas are planted for their beautiful leaves, not their unspectacular flowers. Plants needs attractive form, color or leaves for the remaining six or seven months. That’s especially important in our long Puget Sound growing season.
These photos come from both the West Seattle and Beacon Hill gardens. A few accent flowers snuck their way in. Curtis helped me identify them, but if we got a plant wrong, please leave a comment and I will correct.
